Beatles Music Project

Our last music topic was all about The Beatles, we learnt about the history of the band and some of the songs the had written. Our final assessment was to recreate the song "Eleanor Rigby" by The Beatles and add our own twist to it. We copied the Eleanor Rigby score from a PDF file into Finale NotePad 2008 then converted it to a MIDI file and put it in garageband, we combined all of them to create the song. Our teacher then sent us the vocal notes MIDI file to put in to sound more like the original song. This is what we had to do to get a average level 4 on our project. To get higher we had to change the instruments of each track, create our own original track and add anything else that would go well with the song. I changed the instruments to trumpets, bass, acoustic guitar and orchestral strings. In addition to that i added a simple electric guitar track that i had composed my self giving a pop/hip hop twist to it. To emphasize the pop/hip hop i added beats and shakers to the background.

Ancient Greece: Humanities

We have just started a new topic in Humanities class: Ancient Greece. The mind map is about what my class would really want to know about Ancient Greece including many things like mythology, army and navy, sports, wars, geography, art... etc. The two I chose were Building (architecture) and Inventions of ancient greece. My favourite was actually one someone had already taken which was Mythology. We used mindmeister to create this mind map online, it has a broad range of styles and creativity tools for you to jot down ideas or notes for classes. I prefer taking notes on the computer compared to paper as it is neater and quicker to do. This Humanities project I am looking foward to doing as Ancient Greece ties in with almost everything we do in life (architecture, language, clothing, art... etc)
